Councillor Brousseau explained the purpose of the Rezoning Application.

The City Clerk advised that notice of the meeting was given by prepaid first class mail on the 9th day of November, 2021 to all owners of property within 120 metres of the subject property and by the posting of a placard on the subject property.

Peter Carello explained the purpose of the Rezoning Application.

Councillor Brousseau asked for public presentations in support of or objecting to the Rezoning Application.

Candice Micucci, Agent for the Applicant:

  • Lot 9, is away from the residential area and closer to commercial.
  • Lot 9 will be mostly treed it is not intended to be cleared.  They will be clearing some trees during the construction phase.
  • The driveway is 75 metres in length - this will meet the elevation requirements for engineering purposes.
  • Most of the construction is being proposed on the property that is flat.   
  • The existing culvert at the front of the property will be looked at during the Stormwater Management process.
  • A Traffic Study will be required.  
  • The proposed additional set back will help protect the residential development.

Direction: Committee Report to be brought forward to Council on December 14, 2021.

Rick Miller, Agent for the Applicant.

  • This motel has been in existence since the 1950's the owners wish to expand and renovate the property.
  • The question regarding the flood plain it will have to be determined when they do the Site Plan Agreement as to the elevations on the existing development and then anything new would have to be above the 100 year flood level of the lake.  There would be no changes to the existing building in terms of that. 
  • The rear of the property, immediately to the east, is part of the development going on - a 70 unit condominium.
  • Engineering has requested a Traffic Study - this is very onerous for the minor expansion that is taking place.  

Direction: Committee Report to be brought forward to Council on December 14, 2021.
