Councillor Horsfield explained the amendments to the Water and Wastewater Calculated Rates.
The City Clerk advised that notice of the meeting was given in accordance with City of North Bay Notice By-Law 2020-79, by publishing the notice, 14 days in advance of the public meeting, in the Public Notice section of the City of North Bay’s website on Friday, December 23rd, 2022.
Margaret Karpenko made a presentation in relation to the Water and Wastewater Calculated Rates.
Councillor Horsfield asked for public presentations in support of or objecting to the change to the Water and Wastewater Calculated Rates.
Presentations:
1. Don Rennick
- Imperative that budget deliberations should not start until all 2022 expenditures have been calculated.
- Does not agree with the budget process.
- Councillors have not questioned the staffing levels.
- The use of the word "CPI" has no place in municipal budgets.
- The reserves are a dog's breakfast.
- This is the perfect time to change the financial course.
- Suggested that the budget process restart based on 2022 expenditures.
2. Margaret Ditullio
- All for meters coming so that she would only pay for what she uses.
- Called the water department due to bill in 2020 was over $100.00 due to a leak.
- Was not advised that there was a process that residents can be reimbursed due to the leak.
- Does not feel that she should be paying for anything other than her usage.
Direction: Committee Report be brought forward to Council.
